Why We Are
Blue Sky Collaborative Architecture was founded in April of 2003 to
focus on animal care projects - particularly those that would advance
the development of contemporary sheltering. Blue Sky was founded by Stephen
Jensen on the idea that by "collaborating" the architectural
expertise found at Blue Sky with the capability and tremendous talent
within our client’s organization, a great facility can be built.
The belief at Blue Sky is that reaching new heights in the art and science
of sheltering is done through the accumulated knowledge of clients and
the skills and experience of Blue Sky so that the building reflects the
client’s operating style and mission.
Who We Are
Stephen Jensen, the principle architect at Blue Sky, has been working
on animal projects since 1986. From 1986 until 2003, shelters and veterinary
work was interwoven with retail, hospitality, industrial, commercial and
residential projects while Stephen developed a diverse and varied background
in animal work. Since Stephen has been working with humane societies,
he has become practiced at thinking the way that shelter and veterinary
managers do. He incorporates every aspect of animal care and handling
into his designs. Steven ensures that nothing goes overlooked by paying
great attention to detail, given that the smallest particulars add so
much to the everyday life of those that will use his building.
The accumulated knowledge gained through a variety of projects in size
and scope, exposure to clients with differing operational philosophies,
and the constant pursuit of advancing the quality of our buildings means
that Blue Sky is able to offer services with the confidence that the combined
expertise can achieve a great facility.
Working out of the New England area, Steve has completed projects throughout
the US, taking his expertise on the road with him wherever he travels
with his work. Stephen was recently chosen as architect for the Liberty
Humane Society of Jersey City, NJ, the Clear Creek County Shelter of Dumont,
CO; and The Humane Association of Wilson County, TN.
