Stratham, New Hampshire
A two-phase project for Blue Sky, the first phase was site work
and a new 12,000 square foot shelter that was constructed where
an old barn-like structure was town down. The second phase consisted
of an 8,000 square foot Learning Center with administrative offices.
The New Hampshire Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
opened their new facility in 2001, and is greatly admired in animal
design and function.
This new facility in Stratham allows for increased activity with
12,200 square feet of new shelter space, 45 dog kennels, and room
for an abundance of cats and other small animals. In the new spacious
lobby, visitors can view cats and other animals up for adoption,
as well as shop an impressive retail service area for pet supplies
and gifts. There is a separate entrance for people to surrender
animals, extra large dog kennels, a home style welcome rooms for
dogs, new community rooms for cats, as well as individual cat spaces.
The Learning Center is also a great community attribute.
The NHSPCA is a non-profit serving more than 121 communities in
New Hampshire, Maine, and Massachusetts. The center is dedicated
to bettering the communities they serve by bringing animals and
people together. In their highly functional and efficient new building,
they offer adoption, sheltering, investigation, and educational
services. Blue Sky was able to work with the NHSPCA to develop the
best fitting building to serve over 4,000 animals that are surrendered
here each year.
